Yangzhou Children Welfare Institute lies beside Zhuyuwan scenic spot, which has nice landscapes. The main task is to adopt abandon babies, orphans and handicapped children in Yangzhou area. It initiated from the Foundling Hospital in Qing Dynasty. It ever existed independently as the baby institute in Yangzhou until 1968 when it was incorporated into Yangzhou Social Welfare Institution. It moved to present location in 1982. Since 1990, under the support of government and the whole society, children's welfare industry has acquired rapid development. With the scale enlarged continuously, unceasingly perfected function and specialized objective, Yangzhou children welfare institute came to a formally separate branch in 1999. Now it covers an area about 4000 square meters, include living area, teaching area , recovery area, amusement area and other service areas. The institute holds more than 200 beds, and 200 infants and handicapped children. The institute has complete establishments for living, entertainment, teaching and medical care. Moreover, it has a high-quality team of medical care, teaching and nursing. The institute carries scientific feed, dividing management and grading care.
With the aid of civil administration bureau and people in all walks of life, guiding under the scientific concept of development and harmonious society, practicing with the principle “all for children, for children’s all, for all children”, we accomplished the mission of the authority with the sprit of hard struggle and dedication and responsible attitude. We not only improve ourselves but also try hard to push the welfare socialized. We get the aid from the charity organization “aide foundation” and “haixing foundation”. In addition we try to persuade social group to work for the children’s welfare through media. In recent years we have received the visitors for more than 100 times. We also hold several public undertakings such as “loving 1+1”, “to be a same relativity”, “loving mother”, “taking children home for New Year” etc,. These various works win many supports from the society. In 2007 we have built a recovery base together with Subei Hospital.
On the base of domestic adoption, we started foreign adoption in 1989. Since then, friends from Canada, U.S.A., Japan, Australia, Holland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Britain, Finland and other countries adopt the children from our institute. More than 1500 abandon babies returned back to warm and happy families.
For the excellent job here, the children’s department win the honor of “Jiangsu women civilization post”, “Yangzhou women civilization post” and “Wuyi civilization group” from Yangzhou federation of trade unions.
In the ordinary post, our staff hold a not ordinary responsibility for their dedication. Under the communication with these special children, the staff compose a eternal movement for the friendship and love. The children’s life begin from falling in love with these great mothers while who loses his parents when he opens his eyes.
